Halle Update

Halle is such a character these days and is just so smart. Both Brandon and I cannot believe the things that she says. It really does feel like I am talking to a five year old most of the time with her. She makes us laugh each day with the things she says and does. She is truly a blessing and we love her so much. We don't want her to grow up any more...she is growing up so fast!

At 2 years and 7 months, Halle...
  • Can say anything and everything - recently has been saying "cause be" for because and "of coursesily"which we think is a combination of "of course and absolutely" - but will use words like actually, fantastic, absurd, wait a minute, etc... her pronunciation is really good too!
  • Has said some of the funniest things:
    • "Daddy, you squished a toot out of me" - while Brandon was giving her a hug!
    • When trying to go to sleep we heard her say on the monitor, "I not have stuff to do. I need a TV in here!" and proceeded to ask Santa for a tv the very next day!
    • While watching Mama feed Blair..."You have milk in your moles??" - she calls those moles and we don't correct her because we think it is funny!
    • When running into her her room she said, "Oh my goodness, this is a mess in here!". Then Dad said, "What's a mess?". She said, "My bed...it's absurd!"
    • When playing with her Christmas tree (aka her "baby"), she put it in Blair's car seat and then wanted to put Blair's hat on the tree and said, "Dad, you are going to laugh!"
    • I finally got Blair down for a nap after a whole morning of her being fussy and when I sat down with Halle she said, "take a deep breath!"
    • After her nap while my mom and I were sitting downstairs she came down with Brandon and said, "hey, hey, hey, what's all the racket about?!"
    • When driving by Costco one day, she said "throw money at Costco"! It is true that I spend way too much there but she said this when we hadn't even been shopping there yet since it was brand new so I have no clue how she came up with that one
    • "Oh shucks!"
    • "The garage is slick...be careful Mom"
  • Remembers everything we say and do - if we go back to a restaurant we have been to before she will tell us where we sat last time!
  • Says "hmm, hmm" for yes (we have no clue where she got this but she says it all of the time)
  • Is so sweet to Blair and will come up and give her kisses and love pats
  • Has a vivid imagination and loves to play pretend - each day she pretends to be someone besides herself and if you call her Halle she will tell you, "I'm not Halle, I'm Santa!" - she stays in her role all day and doesn't forget! Recently, she has been the Farmer and the Dell (after visiting the Children's Museum where they had a pretend farm), Santa, Corduroy (with me being Lisa!), Purple Wormy (not sure where she got that one!), etc.
  • Knows all of her ABC's and most of her colors and can count almost to twenty (she forgets some numbers)
  • Wears size 4 diapers (though, she really should be wearing underwear - we will start potty training in a few months...she doesn't seem ready at all right now but will go pee on the potty every once in awhile)
  • Wears 2T and 3T tops and mostly 2T bottoms but I have a feeling she is going to outgrow those soon - she is very tall and skinny!
  • Doesn't have a sweet tooth like her Mom at all - she would almost prefer to eat fruit and veggies over cookies and candy... Though she does really like ice cream
  • Still doesn't eat a ton and I'm always surprised at the foods that she does end up liking - she usually tries whatever we are eating though can be picky every once in awhile
  • Would just consume fluids all day if we let her, especially Diet Pepsi which I know is bad!
  • Sleeps in a big girl bed - has since this past summer while we were in Baltimore - and we just moved her downstairs to a queen size bed
  • Is still taking a nap and it is usually around 1-1.5 hrs long
  • Talks a lot before falling asleep so even though we try to have her in bed around 8/8:30 she usually doesn't fall asleep until 9 or so and will wake up around 8am
  • LOVES watching tv and is currently into Octonauts, Mickey, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, Curious George, Doc McStuffins and really likes Lady and the Tramp, Santa Paws and Cinderella
  • Is loving the Berenstein Bear books that I checked out from the library for her
  • According to Halle - favorite colors: green and blue, favorite food: chicken nuggets, favorite movie: Lady and the Tramp
  • Wants to be a teacher when she grows up (can totally see this since she tells everyone what to do!)
  • She's particular and likes things a certain way (not sure where she got that from since both of her parents are like that too?!?)
  • Is pretty independent with some things - likes to put on her own coat and shoes and get into and out of the car herself, though she still likes being fed (or her mom likes feeding her to make sure she eats enough!)
  • Loves playing with her dollhouse that she got from Santa, Legos, kitchen and pretend with her babies and stuffed animals
  • Is pretty shy when we are outside of the home - likes to be right by Mommy when we go over to other people's homes and is still learning to play with other kids - she has to feel pretty comfortable first before playing
  • She loves music and likes to sing and dance!
  • Likes to "help" out with whatever we are doing - dishes, shoveling, vacuuming, etc.
  • Likes to play games and watch shows on our iPads - is getting pretty good at some puzzle games and knows how to drag items over
  • Likes running errands and knows the logo of Target, Walmart and most other stores
  • Sits very well when we go out to eat

Does she have her TV in her room? You could "throw some money at Costco."
