A Birthday Weekend with Friends!!

Brandon had another weekend off this past weekend (his birthday weekend) so we took advantage of it and met Katy and Steve in the middle of each of our homes, which happened to be Pittsburgh (random, I know!). We went to med school with Katy and Steve and miss them so much, so it was great that we were able to see them.

After a long drive on Friday night (we didn't plan for so much traffic!), we got in late but were still able to see Katy, who stayed up for us! Halle got to sleep that night around 12:30am though she did okay on Saturday since she got to play with Jill and Mercie. Since we slept in a little, we got a late start in the morning, but Katy and Steve and their girls were so patient to wait for us. We started the day with a walk from our hotel to the Strip District to eat breakfast at Pamela's. It was a longer walk than we thought but it was fun since there were all kinds of market shops outside. Once we got arrived, there was a long line but the girls were so patient and the food was definitely worth the wait! On the walk back, Halle fell asleep in the stroller so we tried to keep her asleep by bringing the stroller into the hotel room but that didn't last for long. So, while Mercie, Steve and Brandon napped, Katy, Jill, Halle and I walked to some fountain steps so that the girls could play in the water. The weather was perfect and I think the girls really enjoyed it. It also gave Katy and I some time to catch up!

Steve, Mercie and Brandon met us later at the fountains and it was fun to be outside. We then grabbed dinner downtown at Moe's (Erica, we wanted to make sure to try this for you!). We sat outside and it was really nice out. Afterwards, we headed back to the hotel and took the shuttle to the bottom of one of the inclines. After a little wait, we took an incline up to Mt. Washington where we got some dessert for Brandon's birthday. It was also fun to lookout over the city. I brought some glow sticks for the girls so they had fun playing with those for awhile. It was a busy day and we didn't get to sleep until 11:30pm or so but it was so much fun for Halle to play with Mercie and Jill and we loved catching up with Steve and Katy.

This morning, we ate at the famous, Deluca's, restaurant for breakfast and then we both headed home afterwards. I am so glad that we were able to spend time with them. It was a great weekend...thanks Katy, Steve, Jill and Mercie for meeting us in Pittsburgh! We loved seeing you!

We made a quick stop at some outlets on the way home to get Brandon a birthday present - some new shoes! Halle picked them out...she didn't think these were too big for her.
