Vacation Part 1

Brandon had a week off last week so we decided to take a vacation. We are trying to take advantage of these times together while we can! We flew to Jacksonville on Friday night and spent the weekend with Joy and Nick. We drove down to Universal Studios on Saturday and had a great time. Brandon and Nick enjoyed going on all of the big rides while Joy and I stuck to the kiddie ones! Joy got an awesome deal on tickets from someone on Craigslist so we were able to go to both of the Universal parks. Brandon and Nick rode all of the big rides except for the new coaster at Universal because after waiting 2 hours, the ride shut down... Oh well! We then had a great Mexican dinner before heading home.

On Sunday, we slept in and then enjoyed the warm weather on the beach Both Brandon and Nick tried surfing but ended up being thrashed around by the large waves (from the huriccaine) so they decided they had had enough when they both hit their heads on the sand. After resting a little, Joy and Nick took us to St. Augustine whici is the oldest town in the U.S. It is very historic and reminded me a lot of Spain. For dinner, we went to Clark's Fish Camp, which is covered with taxidermied animals inside. We sat outside and saw an alligator in the lake. They had all sorts of things on the menu including gator (which we tried), python and rabbit. It was a neat experience to say the least!

We rented a car on Monday and then drove 3 hours up to Hilton Head, SC. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Resort (I love priceline!) for 3 days. We really enjoyed this town...it reminded us of Sunriver, OR but it was bigger and had a beach. We had gorgeous weather and were able to lay out on the beach, swim in the ocean, eat pizza near the beach, bike ride on the beach and through all of the trails through the town, golf, eat at some local restaurants, go putt-putt golfing, etc. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time! If we lived in the midwest or east coast, we would definitely dream of buying a vacation home in Hilton Head!

The day we checked out it was raining, so we stopped at some Outlets before driving to Savannah, GA. I will post more on that in the second part of this blog... Sorry for all of the photos!

Joy and I waited for the boys and tried to figure out if they were on the ride or not

The after picture - we were all soaked for almost the rest of the day!
My type of ride!!

Enjoying the ocean!
The weather was so nice and warm

We stopped at a neat pet store that has a ton of dogs that you can pet...this Siberian Husky was really soft. I normally don't pet dogs so we had to get a picture for evidence!
Eating a yummy chocolate covered rice krispie bar in St. Augustine (I did actually share with Brandon!)
We thought this shirt was appropriate for Joy!

It poured on us during our bike ride...

I felt so weird eating inside a restuarant all wrapped up in a towel but I was wet and cold from the air conditioning!

You look so pretty in all of your pictures, Kristen! I can't believe you aren't a roller coaster girl, though! I learn something new everyday! :)
