Road Trip

We left for FL on the afternoon of July 5th so that we could take advantage of the girls sleeping in the car for their afternoon naps. Thankfully, Blair slept for a couple of hours so that we could at least make it to Iowa. Halle didn't take a nap but did great entertaining herself with the iPad and the DVD player. We stopped for an early lunch and then tried to drive for a few hours before bedtime for Blair. She didn't really like being trapped in her car seat while she was awake and wanted to play so we stopped in the early evening and walked around for a bit at a Walmart. We then got both girls changed into their jammies and were hoping that they would fall asleep so that we could drive through the night. Blair fell asleep pretty quickly which was great. Halle didn't fall asleep until pretty late and then once she did fall asleep, she woke back up when we got gas around 3am...So, since Brandon and I were both exhausted, we decided to stop for the night around 4am so that we could get a little rest and Halle too. Blair slept way better in the car than she does in her crib! She kept a normal schedule so she was ready to be up for the day around 7! We took our time getting ready that morning and then started on the road again. The girls did pretty well driving while awake and then we pricelined a hotel in Atlanta and decided to stop early for the night there. We stayed at the Omni in the CNN center which was a great location. We walked around Olympic Park which was right across the street and had a great dinner at a local pizza place. Halle just had fun looking at some horse drawn carriages that she thought were like Cinderella! She really wanted to go on one but we thought $150 was a little much for a 3 year old! Maybe in a few more years... It was so good to get out and see some things before going to bed pretty early. We all needed the break! We then finished up our trip to Jacksonville the next day and arrived in the afternoon. Overall, the trip went pretty well with both girls. We are glad that we got a large portion of it out of the way by driving at night..

For our last stretch we pulled out a ring pop and she fell asleep while eating it and still licked it while asleep!

We made it!!! Dinner at Cheesecake Factory to celebrate!
