Nana and Papa visited at the beginning of June for Blair's dedication at church. There were four girls in total that were being dedicated. Blair was tired during the service so I wasn't sure how she would do and started crying while we were up there. I knew she would calm down if I stood up with her but I couldn't stand up at that moment. So, when Pastor John Steer got to talking about Blair (while she was crying!), he mentioned that her name meant "plain, field or battlefield"and everyone started laughing! Once we stood up and said our vows, she was fine but it was pretty funny and something we will definitely remember.
Here are the vows that we took to be committed to bringing up Blair in a Christian home (here is Halle's post when we dedicated her):
"Do you acknowledge with gratitude the goodness of God who has given you the gift of this daughter?
Do you recognize the serious and tender responsibility which comes to you with this gift and that is your duty to teach and train Blair from her earliest years for the service of God?
Do you then earnestly and seriously resolve that guided by the Spirit of God and seeking the grace of Christ you will bring up Blair in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and always regard this as your constant duty and sacred trust?
Will you seek so to order your home, your words and deeds that this your child shall at all times be compassed about by pure thoughts, holy living and Christ-like examples?"
It was a very special day and we feel so blessed to have Blair in our lives. We love her so much!
We went out to lunch afterwards with Chris and Erica and their kids and Lesley, Caleb and Josiah. We are so blessed with wonderful friends and family that can be here with us for these special moments.
We had so much fun while Nana and Papa were here. They played so well with the girls and I know Halle is missing having them here. We also took them to Chuckee Cheese and I am not sure who had more fun, Papa and Brandon playing games or Halle?!? Thanks Nana and Papa for a great week and for all of the help!
