Today we participated in Rochester CareFest, which is an event that people sign up to participate in through their church (http://www.rochestercarefest.org/index.html). This is the first year for the event in Rochester and over 1500 volunteers from about 20 churches served by painting, cleaning, landscaping, and fixing at numerous sites. We were at Longfellow elementary school from 8-4 washing windows (inside & out), cleaning lockers, and painting hallways. There were about 40 people at our site and it was fun to help out. At 5pm they had a celebration for all of the workers at the fairgrounds with food and worship music. It was amazing to see how many people gave up their Saturday to help clean the community and to "Show the love of Jesus", which was the motto of the event. "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many." Mark 10:45
